US Vice-President Dick Cheney has insisted that the recent increase of US troops in Iraq, or "surge", has improved security there

Closed captioned for the thinking impaired:

By "Surge", we mean an extra 30,000 troops, bringing the total to a whopping 160,000 -- 32% of the number of US troops in Iraq during the first Gulf War and 20,000 fewer even than the number of US-paid private contractors "rebuilding" the country.

By "Improved security", we mean that the number of US casualties has stayed roughly the same, while the number of Iraqi civilian deaths has skyrocketed.

By "Cheney", we mean the pitiless mandroid currently occupying the US Vice Presidency.

By "Dick", we mean... Well, that's pretty self-explanatory.

Ah, republicans. The reason I'm happy I don't live in "the Greatest Democracy on Earth."

(And strictly speaking shouldn't that refer to either Russia [doubtful so I'll throw in Canada instead], if one count by size, or India, if one goes by population?)
